Roamin Club Meetings Rock!

The Roamin Club meets in the evening on a Wednesday of every month between September and May. After meeting online for two years during the Pandemic, we are very happy to return to in-person meetings for 2023. Because the Livonia Library meeting rooms have remained closed, the Club has selected a new meeting location for 2023. The new location is The Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) Hall, 25300 Five Mile Rd., Redford, MI. Meetings begin at 7:00 pm. The public is welcome to attend meetings, you do not need to be a club member. So, please come to a meeting and get acquainted with your local rock, mineral, and fossil club.

Meeting Schedule

Meetings are the 1st Wednesday, September - May @ 7 pm (unless noted otherwise)

Topic: Member "show and tell" of rock finds and purchases from the past year.
December - 12/7/22 @ 7pm, Topic: Holiday Celebration.
January 4, 2023 - Topic: Slide show
February 1, 2023 - Topic: Finalize Auction details, and share Michigan rocks, minerals, fossils and favorite hunting spots
Saturday, February 4 @ 1pm - Auction Prep and Pricing, members only @ a different location (check email for details)
March Special Event - 3/4 and 3/5/23 - Rock & Mineral Auction at Schoolcraft College in Livonia
March - Monday, March 20th @ 7pm
Topic: 1. Auction results and suggestions for improvements for next year. 2. Green for St. Patrick's Day. Bring in any greenish rock mineral or fossil from anywhere in the world.
April 5th - Topic: Rocks Bingo will be played with mineral and rock prizes.
May 3rd - Topic: Report on recent visit to Wayne State Geology Museum.
June - August: Summer Break (no meetings)

What happens at meetings?

Well, you can tell from the photos, that club members like learning about and looking at rocks. Before the meeting begins, people chat with friends and show each other minerals and fossils. The meeting consists of a short "business" portion, raffle ticket drawing for several mineral prizes, snack time, and then the program. The meeting program is either an activity, speaker, or video. Activities that we have each year include: "show and tell" about Summer rock finds, mini silent auction of minerals and hobby related items, Rock Bingo with fun prizes, and a winter holiday celebration. So, please drop by our next meeting and join in on the fun.
